student is absent (except for a suspension) a
parent or guardian must call the school office.
K-8 Staunton
Elementary and Junior High call 635-3831 before 10:00 a.m.
Staunton High School call 635-3838 between 7:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. A. R. Graiff Elementary call 637-2131before 10:00 a.m.
If a student
is absent and the school office has not been
contacted, school personnel will contact
the parent or guardian (at home or work) to confirm
the child's absence. If a parent or guardian
reports the absence to the school, it is not
necessary for a written excuse to be sent to the
teacher upon return to school.
If a parent or guardian does not call the school on the day(s) of the absence(s), the absence(s) will not be cleared with the teachers and the student must report to the principal's ofice when returning to school. See the student handbook for further clarification.
