The magnificent bell, which hangs in the tower near the entrance to the Staunton Elementary School is rung each morning to signal the start of the school day. It was cast in the early 1850’s by David Caughlan-Saint Louis, MO. (Click here for complete article with photos)

Dear Parents,

As we are approaching winter, please review the procedures outlined below.

-Students will continue to go outside for recess until the temperature falls below 25 degrees. Please make sure that you child brings a coat to school each day.

-In the event that school will be cancelled due to inclement weather or emergency, our school will be using our broadcast system, InTouch, to notify parents. Please make sure that you have registered for this system in order to receive alerts and messages. This system uses the phone numbers that you enter into they system. Please call the school should you need assistance with this program.

-Messages will be sent out through the InTouch System as well as the District website, District Facebook page, the radio and TV stations.

-On days when the possibility of inclement weather may occur, we may dismiss school early. A message will be sent out as soon as a decision is made and then sent out through the InTouch system and media. We suggest that parents create a plan for arrangements for their children in case of early dismissal.

The District will make every effort to maintain communication between parents and the school and will contact you as quickly as possible after a decision has been made.

Thank you for your assistance and continued support.
