Dear Staunton Elementary Families,
Our students take federally required assessments every spring. These assessments help us understand how our students are growing academically, compared to their peers across the state. The Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) assesses progress of students in grades 3-5 in the Elementary School meeting the Illinois Learning Standards in English Language Arts and Mathematics. The Illinois Science Assessment (ISA) assesses the progress of students in 5th grade meeting the Illinois Learning Standards for Science incorporating the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
Additionally, these assessments:
Provide a measure of college and career readiness for students.
Contain high-quality test items that measure the full range of state adopted standards.
Assist educators in supporting student learning.
Make use of technology in assessments, and advance accountability at all levels.
All students are required to take the IAR and ISA online using their school provided Chromebook, including elective remote learners. In-person learners will take these tests in their classroom with their homeroom teacher. Elective remote learners will take these tests in the Community Room starting at 2:00 PM on the below listed dates.
Testing Dates:
Illinois Science Assessment (ISA): April 19th - April 21st [5th Grade Only]
Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR): April 26th - April 28th [3rd - 5th Grade]
We encourage all of our students to do their best on these tests and ask that families speak with their students about the importance of these tests and giving their best effort. If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the Elementary Office.
Sincerely,
Brett T. Allen, Principal
