⭐️ ⭐️⭐️To say we are super excited is an understatement! We are so proud of our members and the 2022-2023 chapter officer team for all the hard work and commitment they have put in this past year. Because of this, Staunton FFA has received a Gold Rating and been named an Illinois National Finalist. These finalists are selected based on the National Chapter Award Application which considers the chapter's activities throughout the year in the areas of Growing Leaders, Building Communities, and Strengthening Agriculture. Staunton FFA received a GOLD rating in ALL areas. Only the top 10% of chapters in Illinois can be selected as a National Finalist. Staunton FFA’s application will advance to the National Level later this summer! Congratulations!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐

Change of location and times for baseball and softball!

Congrats to the soccer team on an amazing season. You battled hard last night and should be proud of the effort everyone gave. Seniors-we wish you the best of luck in the future. Returning players-we hope you work hard in the off-season and continue to improve your game. You are a talented group of athletes!

Baseball and Softball will be playing at Palmyra today vs Greenfield.
The baseball field is right on the highway next to the school.
The softball field is located at Terry Park Golf Course which is approximately 1 mile east of town.

Below are the rules for the Senior Cookout on May 12th.
Rules:
● Any food that you plan on eating is your responsibility. It is up to you if you want to get together with a group and go in together to buy food, drinks, etc. Mr. Davin is grilling. He is NOT supplying any food or condiments.
● NO Students are allowed to come to the ag shop or cook out during 6th hour. Mr. Davin will not be in the shop to supervise during this time.
○ Getting a group of friends together to buy drinks/food/snacks would be easier and cheaper than everyone trying to go it alone.
○ You are NOT allowed to give food or drinks to underclassmen. This is for graduating seniors only!!!
● You must report to class every hour. Your teacher will take attendance at the beginning of every hour. If your teacher allows you to go to the cookout, you will be released after attendance. IT IS AT THE TEACHERS DISCRETION on whether you are allowed to go to the parking lot. If you do not report to the beginning of each class, the privilege to walk at graduation could be compromised.
○ If you violate any rules or vandalize any school property, walking at graduation could also be compromised.
○ Remember this is a privilege, do not ruin it for everyone!!!
● Coolers with ice will be provided. Whether you decide to put the drinks you bought in said coolers is up to you. If not, you will need to bring your own cooler.
● Students are NOT allowed to return to their cars for any reason. You must bring everything to Mr. Davin’s room prior to the start of the school day.
Items Needed:
● drinks (school appropriate)
● any food you plan on eating (brats, burgers, buns, hotdogs, chips, snacks)
● games (already have a set of bags, washers, horseshoes, footballs, volleyballs, etc.)
● lawn chairs/seating
Extra info:
● Charcoal and lighter fluid is already taken care of
● Ketchup, Mustard, and BBQ will be provided
● Even though this is your last day of school, continue to show respect and behave.
● Have fun and remember to say goodbye to your administrators, teachers, classmates, peers, and friends as we move on to the next chapter of our lives!

Below is the letter that was sent home with the Seniors today after their meeting. The letter contains important graduation information.
May 1, 2023
Dear Seniors,
Your high school education will conclude with graduation on Friday, May 19th at 7:00 PM in the gym. We are proud to have been associated with you during your education at Staunton High School. We want to make graduation a dignified occasion for you, your family, and relatives. It is important that you assist us in making this event a serious and formal occasion.
There has been a trend in many high schools to create disruptions during graduation exercises. An appropriate celebration (confetti, air horns, etc.) after graduation is acceptable. However, disruptions during exercises could interfere with the individual recognition of each graduate. Please make sure any celebration is at the proper time in an appropriate manner.
Since students are not required to attend graduation to receive their diploma, we do ask that you conform to our requests. Caps and gowns will be worn for the ceremony. Please dress appropriately with your cap and gown (dress shoes, dress pants, etc). There will be no wearing of inappropriate items or any alterations of approved graduation apparel (lettering on caps and gowns, etc.). If you have additional questions, please stop by the high school office. Any student in violation of these rules will not be allowed to participate in the graduation ceremony. If you have a handicapped member in your family, we ask that you contact the school and let us know so we can reserve a seat for them at graduation. You MUST call the office by Thursday, May 18th.
Listed below is a schedule of events for graduation day.
Sincerely,
Carrie J. Griffith
Principal
