IMPORTANT UPDATE: SHS and SAT School Day
This message is to inform SHS Families of updated assessment information based on recent news released from the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE). Please read thoroughly as the original schedule has changed. We greatly appreciate your patience as we adapt to the state directed assessment requirements and options.
ISBE has adopted the following changes for 2021 state assessments:
ISBE is omitting the essay portion of the SAT.
ISBE is eliminating the PSAT 8/9 and PSAT 10 for spring 2021. Freshmen and sophomores will no longer test.
Seniors are exempt from the SAT graduation requirement. All current 12th grade students will be eligible for graduation regardless of whether they have taken the school-administered SAT.
Updated Test Schedule:
Tuesday, April 13
SAT for all Juniors @ Net Church
Testing begins promptly at 8:00 am and standard testing will conclude at approximately 11:45 am. Students will be dismissed for the day at the conclusion of testing.
Freshmen, Sophomores and Seniors will attend a regular school day at SHS on April 13.
Please note the following:
The SAT for juniors remains a graduation requirement.
All juniors, in-person and remote, will take the SAT. Remote delivery of state-mandated testing is not an option. Another letter with testing information will be sent via email again in a few weeks.
Please do not schedule any appointments on the day of testing.
Students are automatically registered through SHS for the test. There is no fee for the test.
The SAT is an official test and will be scored by College Board. The SAT scores can be reported to colleges/universities.
Freshmen, Sophomores and Seniors will attend a regularly scheduled school day at SHS on Tuesday, April 13.
If you have any questions about testing, please contact the high school office at 618-635-3838.

Dear Staunton Community,
Gym branding creates a fan experience unique to each venue, while also adding color and life to blank and boring concrete walls and empty spaces. When students and fans enter the facility, they need to be blown away by logos, colors, and designs that boost pride and foster unity among spectators. Wall, floor, bleacher, and seats all accomplish this goal.
The coaches have made significant improvements to the gym entrance and locker rooms. We have purchased 30 new bench chairs. New conference, regional, and state banners have been hung in the gym. To continue this unity, we need the parents, coaches, administrators, alumni, and community to come together to help in reaching this vision. We are asking for donations to help purchase new wall mats that will run from door to door in the gym. This wall padding will help keep players safe and add a unique aesthetic to our gym. It will help brand our gym into something we can all be proud of. Please help support Staunton Athletics by donating to this much needed product.

In-Person Learner Reminder Announcement: To help reduce the number of students congregating in one place, we have three entry points and multiple exit points for the building. 9th-10th graders enter through the library doors. 11th-12th graders enter through the Ag shop doors. Bus riders enter through the doors near the old gym. Hand sanitizer stations are located near each entry. Thank you all for helping to keep our COVID numbers down.
The shortage of referees is real. Why? Low pay, verbal abuse, criticism on social media and not enough younger kids joining the ranks. Please help support our referees at SHS. If you are interested in joining their ranks, contact AD Redfern at TREDFERN@STAUNTONSCHOOLS.ORG.
