As construction moves forward on the new high school addition, the Board of Education is excited to invite all members of the communities that make up the Staunton School District to come sign one of the final steel beams that will be placed in the canopy area of the building.
The beam is located at the north end of campus near the library entrance to the school. There will be a table with markers available to sign your name. The beam will be available for signing through Sunday, November 23rd.
When signing, we request that you include your name only (no notes or messages please) to ensure everyone has ample space to sign the steel beam.

The Macoupin County Public Health Department (MCPHD) is hosting a Firearm Safe Distribution Event at Staunton Schools to promote safe firearm storage and help protect our children and community.
Event Details:
- Date: Tuesday, October 21
- Time: 5:00 PM (Please do NOT start lining up until 3:30 PM)
- Location: Staunton High School Bus Garage
- Address: 801 N Deneen Street, Staunton, IL 62088
Traffic Instructions:
- Please enter the school parking lot from Deneen Street
- After receiving your safe, exit onto Bunker Hill Road (View Map Attached)
- This traffic flow is designed to reduce congestion and ensure safety for all attendees
What to Expect:
- Free firearm safes will be distributed while supplies last
- Each safe includes firearm safety education materials
- Must be 18 years or older to receive a safe
- Recipients must be able to transport the safe themselves
- No personal information will be collected
Why Safe Storage Matters:
- Over 4.6 million children in the U.S. live in homes with at least one loaded and unlocked firearm (Firearm Storage in US Households With Children)
- Secure storage of firearms and ammunition can reduce the risk of unintentional injuries by 85% and self-inflicted injuries by 78% among children (Children’s Hospital Association)
- Nearly 90% of youth firearm suicides involve guns accessed from their own home or a relative’s home (Society for Research in Child Development)
- Safe firearm storage is a proven way to prevent tragedies (CDC).
MCPHD is committed to helping families create safer home environments through education and access to secure storage tools.

Miles of Smiles Dental Clinic is coming back to Staunton Schools to provide FREE preventive dental services for ALL grades.
The due date for Miles of Smiles Dental Clinic is Thursday - Oct 30th!
Please see the attached flyer for the QR code or click HERE to register. Miles of Smiles has also provided paper copies to ALL STUDENTS - please call the health office and we will be happy to send one home with your student!
This also would complete the Illinois dental requirement for grades K, 2, 6 and 9.
