The Staunton School District is working with medical personnel, families, and local resources to address the emergent student episodes that took place at the basketball game on Friday, December 22, 2023. The School District will continue to take every measure necessary to ensure the safety of all students. We are appreciative of the support of local emergency first responders and will work collaboratively with families to provide the necessary support for students.
Not only is there a JV boys' game and a Varsity game, but the girls' and boys' basketball team will be performing the halftime dance at the 5:00 Special Olympics game tonight!!!!
Staunton Families: Don't Forget! All Elementary & Jr. High students are dismissed at 2:00 PM today (Thursday, December 21st). High School students are following the final exam schedule.
Winter Break is from December 22nd - January 3rd.

Ava Roller was honored for earning National Rural and Small Town Recognition through College Board for her academic achievement. The 7th Grade Girls Basketball Team and SHS Trap Team were spotlighted for their success during the most recent seasons.

Mainstreet Bridal in Carlinville has partnered with local School Districts to assist those in need in obtaining a Prom Dress. They will be taking Prom dress donations during the months of January and February that are less than 3 years old. All those who donate will get a $50 credit from us towards a Prom dress of their choice with us.
Then the donated gowns will be placed in a special area of our shop and we will have those girls that need a free dress come and shop the donated dresses on select Sundays, when our store is not open to the public, during March and April.

The Board of Education was thrilled to Spotlight an array of organizations and students at the November meeting!
First, is the Staunton Education Foundation for their continued campaigning to financially support the Staunton School District and its students. Most recently the Foundation donated nearly $8,000 in mini grants to staff in support of their efforts to educate students.
Next, ACE Hardware earned a 'Building Up Bulldogs Award' for their continuous support of the Staunton School District and its staff and students. They never hesitate to step up and provide assistance to any cause that benefits the students of our community.
Finally, students athletes of the Cross Country, Tennis, and Volleyball programs were recognized for their achievements during the most recent seasons, illustrating their dedication and determination.

We are seeing an uptick in student absences compared to last year at this same time. While we do not encourage your child to come to school sick, we do encourage them to be in attendance. The State of Illinois allows 10 excused absences per school year. Anything beyond that can result in truancy referrals.
When students aren't in the building, they miss information, assignments, and assessments. We have noticed that many of those students who are absent frequently have lower grades and academic performance.

There will be a quick junior high girls volleyball tryout meeting on Wednesday, November 15 at 7:50 am. Please meet Coach Weller in the lobby outside of the main gym.
Reminder that picture retake day for the high school is November 15th. DO NOT wear green!
Jr High Girls Volleyball tryouts will begin on Monday, November 27. You MUST have an updated physical on file on or before this date or you will not be allowed to tryout. Please see Coach Weller if you have questions.
