Thankful. That is how I feel every day to serve as your Superintendent. As we enjoy Thanksgiving break with our families and friends this Thursday, on behalf of the District Administration and the Board of Education, I want to take this opportunity to thank you for all you do to make our community such a place of pride.
To our students who come to school each day ready to learn and grow, thank you for inspiring us to do our best work for you. For you are our future leaders.
To our teachers, principals, nurses, bus drivers, food service staff, custodians, grounds workers and the many support staff who strive to ensure success for each and every Staunton student, thank you for inspiring a passion for learning in our students.
To our parents, PTOs, community groups, residents and business partners who support our students through the investment of time, treasure and talent, thank you for supporting our students inside the classroom and beyond.
You make a difference in the lives of our students each day and your hard work and dedication to our mission, no matter your role, is recognized and appreciated.

Dear Staunton Families,
This communication is to inform you one individual at Staunton Elementary School has tested positive for COVID-19. We are coordinating our efforts with the Macoupin County Health Department to promptly identify and monitor individuals who have had recent contact with the COVID-19 positive individual to prevent further spread within our school and community. At this time, any students and staff who have had close contact with the COVID-19 individual have been contacted separately and informed that they are restricted from all district activities for the quarantine period.
This message is intended to inform parents of students who attend Staunton Elementary School and explain that they are at low risk of transmission due to our school mitigation strategies and procedures. Those persons who exhibit symptoms should contact their health care provider to determine if testing is needed.
District 6 administration has contacted the Macoupin County Health Department to inform them of this positive test. In any situation where there is a positive test, we will strictly follow all guidelines and orders from the Macoupin County Health Department for isolation/quarantine before allowing the COVID-19 positive individual to return to the school.
We are committed to providing our students and staff with a safe and healthy environment. We appreciate your ongoing cooperation with our COVID-19 procedures as we work to help protect all our students and staff at Staunton Elementary School.
Be safe,
Cynthia Tolbert, Superintendent
