PRESCHOOL SCREENINGS
CALLING ALL 3 & 4 YEAR OLDS
Staunton Elementary School will conduct annual preschool screenings for the 2022-2023 school year on April 11, 12, 13, & 14. This is a free developmental screening for all preschool children who will not be eligible to attend Kindergarten in the fall and will be three (3) years old on or before September 1, 2023. Parents are encouraged to
take advantage of this opportunity to identify their child's strengths as well as weaknesses in the areas of fine and gross motor skills, concepts, and communication. Vision and hearing will also be screened. Parents will be asked
to complete a parent interview form covering early development. It may be helpful to bring the child's baby
book. Parents will be informed of their child's performance immediately following the screening. The school's goal is to assist parents in determining that their child will be ready for Kindergarten and will be able to make the most of future school experiences. To be eligible for any preschool services, children must participate in a
screening and proof of income must be provided. To schedule an appointment, please call the Staunton Elementary School at (618) 635-3831 as soon as possible. Appointments must be made in advance.
Please bring in any of the following as proof of income for the state:
Income Tax Forms
Your last, most recent two pay stubs
• Proof of WIC
Proof of SNAP benefits
Wages and Tax Statement (most recent W-2)
• Verification letter from employer
**Preschool for All Children (3-5) programs are being funded on a competitive basis. Staunton CUSD #6 will conduct screenings in anticipation of funding of our proposal by the Illinois State Board of Education.

The Sophomore Class of 2025 is currently having a fundraiser to help them make money for their class trip and to help pay for Prom as juniors. The fundraiser is "Cards for a Cause." They are awesome to have around the house because you have a great storage container for your cards that you already have on hand, plus you have the cards that come in the box. Each card is individually wrapped and embellished. If you are interested, please email kreinhardt@stauntonschools.org and we can get your order added to the list! Money is due upon the time of order!

Holiday Hike!
Students in 5th-8th Grade that have signed up for the Holiday Hike need to be ready to go tomorrow for the 1.5 hours & (2.5 mile) trek. The weather is forecasted to be cold, but not cold enough to stop us. Kids need to be layered, have hats, gloves, and etc. to be prepared for about 30 degree weather. The wind will not be as much of a factor tomorrow and we will have stops where we are briefly inside.
Students are encouraged to bring a couple items in their packs if they wish to donate to either cause (see lists from earlier emails), as we will be hiking those as well as other donations to specific locations on our route.
We look forward to a fun & holiday spirited journey that is a culminating focus of health, happiness, & community. There will be a few sweet surprises for the kids along the way, and we look forward to the day. If the cold is of major concern, and you wish your child not to participate, please let us know and we will remove them from the list. Also, we apologize, but cannot add any students to the activity due to many variables at play in the organization of this event. Please send email to jkolesar@stauntonschools.org with questions or concerns.
