The Staunton Schools' administrative team and board of education are asking for your feedback regarding the 2021-2022 daily school schedule. Specifically, we would like to know if school staff and our families would prefer to return to a normal schedule in which all students and staff attend school at the same time or if we should continue with a staggered schedule. Out junior high track team competed at sectionals this past Saturday. Nathan Oller was the sectional champ in the 400 and 800. Gianna Bianco was the sectional in high jump. We might have been the smallest team there, but we didn't finish last in any of the team points totals. Our highest placing team was our 7th grade boys, coming in 6th overall. Many athletes also achieved PRs. It was a great day all around!
Staunton Families: Summer meals will be available for all children 18 years of age and under June 1st - July 2nd, 2021 at no cost. As the newly appointed president of the Staunton Board of Education, I would briefly like to address the recent events that have caused discussion within our community. My comments are simply to assure our students, parents and staff that the Staunton Board of Education is presently reviewing the concerns brought forth by the Staunton Federation of Teachers. However, the Board of Education has policies that establish a process that we must follow when complaints are made against any student, employee or board member, including the Superintendent of Schools. We intend to follow this process while looking into the Federation’s concerns, and fully intend to offer both the Federation and the Superintendent their legal rights afforded them under Board Policy and any contract of employment before hastily rushing to judgment. I would like to take this opportunity to thank every member of our community for the civility, respect and decency they have exhibited during this tough time and I ask for your support and patience as due process is followed.
Respectfully,
Dr. Poonam Jain
President, Board of Education
