The dogs escaped the Dog Pound! Please help us find them!
We’ve heard rumors that the bulldog and terrier will be visiting “Businesses with Bark” for 2 weeks at a time. Your job is to figure out which business they’re at, take a selfie with them, and email it to media@stauntonschools.org with the following information:
- Name
- Contact info (phone number or email address!)
This will help us get the dogs back under control and give credit to those who helped us locate them. We’ll be sure to share any hints we receive to help you with your search; the first one is already below! You have until February 7th to get your pictures in.

*By sending us your pictures, you’re giving us permission to publish them on our website and/or social media pages.

This past weekend, School Board President Dr. Jain and teachers Jessica Larsen and Brianna Bohlen had the privilege of meeting and hearing the story of a Holocaust survivor, Gittel Burns, who resides right here in Staunton.
Along with author Lisa Johnson, Gittel shared her incredible story of resilience and courage, including her time in the Shanghai Ghetto. Gittel and her father, Walter Berger, moved to the United States and befriended Staunton's own Henry and Linda Makler, eventually settling in our great community. Her story serves as a poignant reminder of our strength and the importance of standing up against hate and injustice.
We are grateful to Gittel for sharing her experiences and to our staff for continuing to seek meaningful ways to connect with and learn from our community's history.
Let us honor voices like Gittel’s by continuing to promote understanding, compassion, and education.

Across the country, in our communities, we share everyday moments with our neighbors, family, coworkers, and friends. We go to work or school, the grocery store, or the gas station. It's easy to overlook these routine moments, but as you’re going about your day, if you see something that doesn't seem quite right, say something. By being alert and reporting suspicious activity to your local law enforcement or school officials, you can protect your family, neighbors, and community.

The Staunton School District is excited to welcome back students for the start of the 2nd semester today, Wednesday, January 8th!
Due to varied road conditions across the district, buses will be traveling at reduced speed to transport students as safely as possible.
Additionally, all buses are expected to be running behind their usual schedule and we appreciate your patience and understanding.
If you are driving near a school bus, please use extreme caution and watch for children going to and from bus stops.
Finally, please remember to dress your child for cold weather and in shoes for walking in snow and ice.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back to school after the unanticipated extended winter break!

Cheer Clinic!!! These flyers will be handed out by the SHS Cheer Team once we return (or you can print from here). Please have the forms and participation costs turned back in by January 17, 2025!
